Projects > ASB Sports centre

Wellington City Council indoor sports centre, the building has been designed with passive low energy solutions. Natural daylight via roof mounted skylights provide a diffuse daylight across the 12 sports courts, reducing the energy consumption of the building. Within the central spine, solar hot water panels assist in heating the buildings hot water, further reducing the operational energy. The building breathes via perimeter windows to/from high level windows located within the central spine area, eliminating the need to costly mechanical ventilation and providing a comfortable indoor air quality without the high operation costs of a mechanical ventilation system.
