The U.S. Memorial at Pukeahu Park was commissioned by the U.S. Government and the American Battle Monuments Commission, and was designed by Monica Ponce de Leon who worked with landscape architects, Landworks Studio and was supported by Wellington Architect Sam Kebbell. 335 assisted Sam with lighting and electrical design.

Lighting has been provided for the circulation area and main viewing seat. The memorial is a large sloping granite tablet which was carved in Madison, Wisconsin. Two light poles placed either side of the seat have LED spotlights focused in on the tablet
